Jose Mourinho gets Ferguson's support to become next United Manager

As the weeks go by, and with Manchester United still playing poor attacking football and looking unlikely to make the top four, and Champions League football, Jose Mourinho continues to be linked with the Old Trafford job.

In truth, the Jose Mourinho to Manchester United rumours have been swirling ever since The Special One left Chelsea with LVG never fully convincing the Old Trafford faithful this season. The last week has pretty much summed up Manchester United under Louis van Gaal, a team capable of big results but not one that ever excites. United were blown away at Spurs last Sunday. Then surprisingly won at West Ham in the FA Cup, a competition they could well win. Saturday saw United beat Aston Villa 1-0 but even against the worst team in the Premier League, Louis van Gaal’s side just could not put together the attacking football that has made them famous and brought in so many fans from across the world.

One of the best sources for Manchester United insider gossip is fanzine Red Issue. To understand the power struggles at Old Trafford, involving the likes of CEO Ed Woodward, legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson plus legendary players in Bobby Charlton and Ryan Giggs, see this post from February: Red Issue provide fascinating insight into the power struggles at Man United [Tweets].

On Saturday evening, Red Issue have confirmed that the power struggle may well be over. Sir Alex Ferguson is no longer opposed to Jose Mourinho taking over at Manchester United. And, you can expect SAF to continue being very complimentary about Mourinho in public…
